My Big Gay Italian Midlife Crisis which officially opened on December 3rd, 2015, in New York City under Bianco Productions at the Theater Center has recently been licensed by two-time Emmy winner Sonia Blangiardo for a one night only, one act version, at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City and will play in The Showroom on Sunday, October 23rd at 7pm.
Sonia Blangiardo who is planning to direct as well as produce the production is a two-time Emmy winner, and four-time nominee, with over twenty years of experience as a producer/director/writer. Sonia is the Creator and Executive Producer of the Emmy nominated Tainted Dreams. Sonia's career includes working as a producer and director on All My Children, One Life to Live, General Hospital, As the World Turns and is currently a director for Days of Our Lives. Sonia directed and produced the revival of the Off-Broadway hit My Big Gay Italian Wedding and My Big Gay Italian Funeral in New York City at St. Luke's Theater.
In the third chapter of the Big Gay Italian trilogy, Wilkinson's character (Anthony Pinnunziato) is approaching his 40's and is faced with the challenges of balancing his now very successful weight loss company with past and present gay relationships. The setting of the show actually happens to be Atlantic City, New Jersey as fun familiar characters and some new ones come together to join Anthony on his journey in another outrageous comedy of errors. Critics are calling this the best of the three chapters and have included quotes "Anthony Wilkinson has outdone himself!" and "Wildly Entertaining!"
My Big Gay Italian Midlife Crisis was published by Samuel French this spring and is also scheduled to open in St. Joseph, Michigan under the direction of August Garritano in October, and in Louisville, Kentucky by Pandora Productions under the direction of Michael Drury in January of 2017.
Presented by The Usual BS Productions, the Atlantic City production of "My Big Gay Italian Mid Life Crisis" will be directed by Sonia Blangiardo. The show will feature Anthony J. Wilkinson (Anthony/Writer), Chad Kessler (Larry), Debra Toscano (Toniann), Kim Pirrella (Lucia), Brooke Shapiro (Connie), Jesse Lehman (Nathaniel), Daniel Florio (Andrew) with special guests Angelina Malerba (Fabiana), Janet Malpeso (Fonzina), and Michael Mortensen (Mayor Donnie D'Ambrosio).
